CABOR/AABOR Merger Update
To Our Members:
I hope you had a very enjoyable and productive summer. A few months ago I wrote to you about a possible merger between the Cleveland Area Board of REALTORS® and the Akron Area Board of REALTORS®. I am happy to report that we have made tremendous progress:
Merger committees for Member Services and MLS have completed their research. Finance has gathered and compiled valuable data that is being used in our ongoing investigation. The efforts of these committees have confirmed that a unified association will be able to deliver better services to our members, more efficiently and more cost-effectively than either Board could separately.
Vision for a new association
Leaders from CABOR and AABOR recently discussed what kind of association we would like to create. Drawing on our own beliefs and mission statements we established our ideal future:
To be the voice for real estate in Northeast Ohio –to our members, the real estate industry and the public. We are a regional leader, dedicated to the excellence and advancement of real estate professionals.
We crafted a Merger Vision based on this ideal which identifies our core values, highlights the strengths of both organizations and lists the most compelling reasons to merge.
Since proposing Bylaws to members is a requirement by the State of Ohio and the National Association of REALTORS when considering a merger, this fall the Governance Committee is developing them for the new association.
Then the PR Committee will communicate important and detailed information to help you make an educated decision when you are eventually asked to consider unification. Town Hall Meetings will be held to allow for open discussion—but questions and feedback are encouraged now! Contact information is below.
When will the merger be completed?
Consolidating our two great organizations is no small task. We owe it to you and to our past and future members to be thorough and diligent in our work. We’re excited about what we’re doing and we will continue to strive tirelessly toward the goal. The future is very bright for REALTORS® in Northeast Ohio!
