CABOR Rallies to Help Youth Get “Rested, Refreshed & Ready to Learn”
The Cleveland Area Board of REALTORS® (CABOR), its Young Professionals Network (YPN), and Affiliates Council collected new bedding sets and raised more than $5,500 for the Cleveland Furniture Bank’s Beds for Cleveland Kids program.
From August 5 through August 16th, REALTOR® association members, as well as members of public, were invited to donate new twin sized bedding, including pillows, sheets and blankets, for the Cleveland Furniture Bank to distribute to families in need. Along with CABOR, many local real estate offices served as a drop-off location for persons interested in helping out local youth.
To ensure the twin sized bedding donation drive was a complete success, CABOR continued its donation drive efforts at a special wing night fundraiser and its annual golf outing. To date, $5,585 has been collected for the Bedding for Cleveland Kids drive. All funds collected during the events will be used by the Cleveland Furniture Bank to purchase new twin sized blankets, sheets, and pillows.
“We could not be happier with the support this program has received from our YPN, CABOR members, and staff,” said YPN Chairman Joe Dirk. “We have heard from some offices that their donation efforts will continue into the winter months as well.”
CABOR Chairwoman Joanne Zettl added, “Now that our children are back to school, and especially with cooler temperatures on the way, it is more important than ever that we help ensure that the youth in our neighborhoods are “Rested, Refreshed & Ready to Learn.””
Since the Cleveland Furniture Bank started its Beds for Cleveland Kids program, more than 1,400 beds have been distributed to area youth. The campaign is an effort to provide a mattress, box spring and bed frame to every Northeast Ohio child who is in need. The Cleveland Furniture Bank can be reached at (216) 459-2265, ext. 101.
