ACAR Announces CEO
Seth Task, President of the Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS® (ACAR), announced that Sandy Naragon, RCE, has been named as the new CEO of the 4,500-member organization subject to contract negotiations. Naragon was the CEO of the Akron Area Board of REALTORS® (AABOR) for 15 years, and has served as the Co-CEO since the merger of AABOR and the Cleveland Area Board of REALTORS on October 15, 2013.
Naragon’s first act as CEO was to name Mike Valerino, RCE, Chief Operating Officer of the organization. “Mike played a significant role in the merger process. We have worked together very well as a management team. I’m thrilled to keep that momentum going,” Naragon said of the appointment.
Task noted that a nationwide search was conducted for the CEO position of the newly formed association. “Sandy is a proven industry leader at the state and national level. Her leadership development skills are highly regarded by her peers and REALTOR® leaders with whom she has worked. She also has a strong presence in the community through her longtime involvement in Rebuilding Together and Rotary.”
“My goal is to work alongside President Task and the REALTOR® leadership to position ACAR as an industry leader.” said Naragon. “As a trade association, we not only advocate for our members, but also for homeowners. Whether it is through community outreach, education, or support of policies that open the doors to homeownership and protect private property rights the Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS® is the voice of real estate in Northeast Ohio.”
Naragon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business & Organizational Communication from the University of Akron. She holds the RCE, REALTORS® Certified Executive, designation from the National Association of REALTORS®. Naragon held various positions at AABOR throughout her 30-year career with the organization. She is a graduate of the 2003 Leadership Akron program.
