ACAR Volunteers Help Out at Cleveland Food Bank
12 volunteers from ACAR recently helped out at the Cleveland Food Bank. During our 3-hour shift, our volunteers checked recipients into the food bank’s database. We also delivered food boxes that contained loaves of bread, potatoes, sweet corn, cabbage, onions, and fresh fruit to the recipients’ vehicles.
We were able to assist over 800 families in 3 hours.
The Cleveland Food Bank does this type of distribution on the Third Thursday of each month, and on some months they do a back-to-back distribution if there is a holiday approaching, such as Easter or Memorial Day, etc.
Prior to getting the boxes of food, recipients and their families have an opportunity to visit tables from local non-profit agencies that try to help the less fortunate. Some of the vendors were from organizations that help with utility assistance, medical assistance and housing assistance.
Thanks to all who were able to join us for this volunteer opportunity! Contact Jane Shubert with questions about or for more information on how you can get involved, or visit our website calendar to see what other volunteer opportunities might be coming up.
