YPN Affiliate Corner: Get to know your community
Insight from real estate industry affiliates
By Denise R. Scolaro
As a Cleveland native, I’m a staunch supporter for the redevelopment and growth of the region. Being involved with various community organizations has helped me to develop a new and deeper love for this great region. Getting to know your extended community and supporting the redevelopment of your anchor city is one of the strongest tools you can have in this industry.
There are some fabulous things going on right now, and real estate professionals and affiliates should be involved. Here are a few of the organization I recommend exploring:
• University Circle Inc. and UpTown Partners is an association of businesses located in and around Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood. The group is dedicated to increasing the public’s awareness of business opportunities in the area, and organizes initiatives which enhance the overall experience for visitors.
• Greater Cleveland Partnership and COSE have more than 15,000 business members who are actively working to develop our region. One of their current initiates is the Opportunity Corridor that will bring new life to the Cleveland neighborhoods between downtown and University Circle.
• Cleveland Neighborhood Development Coalition has brought together critical players in the community development arena to exchange views, identify issues of common concern and mobilize for action. Their goal is to advance neighborhood community and economic development organizations.
