Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Teams are a vital part of real estate sales, but sometimes it can feel they happen because everyone’s in the same place at the same time. Task planning site Sandglaz identified six traits that make a team highly effective and increase each member’s productivity.
Emotional intelligence topped the site’s list of vital traits; “studies have shown that emotional intelligence is more important than the IQ of each team member,” writes Alina Vrabie. Empathy and particularly social sensitivity ensure that the team stays on top of tasks such as problem-solving and negotiating, it even improves typing skills, Vrabie says.
A good mix of introverts and extroverts also maintains a good team dynamic. The two styles of personality play off each other and allow everyone to shine whether expectations are high or low.
Common goals and shared ambitions give teams structure that allow the members to coordinate without explicitly discussing situations because each member anticipates the others’ contributions.
Making time for humor inspires trust and intimacy among teammates, not only bonding members but also improving communication and productivity.
Proactive communication helps to keep members on track. Providing information, support, and assistance before being asked and keeping teammates updated consistently helps keep all members focused on their goal.
Finally, great teams need great leadership, with the leader not only setting examples and motivating the other members but also providing effective feedback and nurturing the skills that keep the team moving.
