ACAR’s Food Drive Benefited Families in Akron-Cleveland Area
(Independence, OH) November 3rd marked the first day of the Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS® (ACAR) annual food drive. The food drive was held from November 3rd to December 5th. Food items, non-food items, and monetary donations were accepted at both the Akron and Cleveland office locations. The donations benefited the Akron-Canton Regional and Greater Cleveland Food banks.
Donations made to the Akron-Canton Food Bank included 240 pounds of food items which equals 200 meals for families in need, and a total dollar value of $450.60. A $25 monetary donation was made which equals a total of 100 meals. Every pound of food is valued at $1.69 and every dollar donated equals four meals at the Akron-Canton Food Bank.
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank received 30 pounds in non-food items, 270 pounds in food items and a monetary donation of $25. Total donated to the Greater Cleveland Food bank equaled 225 meals.
Debra Branske, 2015 vice chair of the Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS® Community Outreach and Charity Committee, helped with donations as well as promoting the event. “The goal was to keep local food pantry shelves packed with nutritious food for the hungry. Having a food drive means less adults and children will go to bed hungry” said Brankse.
Between the two offices, the Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS® was able to donate a total of 525 meals to families in need in the Akron-Canton and Greater Cleveland areas.
“I am very proud of our membership and the amount of food we donated. We look forward to building on this success by raising even more next year” said Seth Task, 2014 ACAR President.
The Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS® would like thank everyone who donated to the food drive, and helped provide meals for families in our neighborhoods during the holidays.
