ACAR Supports Rebuilding Together – We Need Your Help
Calling all ACAR volunteers …. Rebuilding Together has partnered with Slavic Village Development to assist six low-income homeowners in the Slavic Village neighborhood with maintenance projects to help the homeowners remain independent and in their own homes. Volunteer day is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2015. Volunteers will complete a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks at each house such as exterior painting, light carpentry, landscaping, plumbing, electrical and accessibility modifications. Not only do these upkeep tasks help the homeowners continue to live independently, it also helps stabilize the neighborhood. Volunteers work together as a team, connect with homeowners and are able to see the results of their work at the end of the day.
Rebuilding Together is a nonprofit year-round program that helps to repair and rehabilitate the homes of low-income elderly, disabled, and veteran homeowners so they may live with independence and dignity. Rebuilding Together does not construct new homes but works with existing housing to bring volunteers from all walks of life and all faiths together to help eligible recipients remain warm, safe and dry in their homes. Rebuilding Together is part of a national organization and with more than 165 affiliates across the United States and are the leading home repair and renovation program in the country. In 2014, Cuyahoga County was added after being served well by its sister affiliate Rebuilding Together Cleveland.
ACAR recently donated money from the Real Estate Community Cares Fund to sponsor a house for this event.
For volunteers that are not able to help for a full day, volunteer shifts are available. Lunch will be provided for the volunteers. For information, contact Jane Shubert at 216-525-4837.
