Advocating for You: ACAR Meets with Akron Councilwoman Marilyn Keith
Recently, ACAR representatives met with Marilyn Keith, Councilwoman for Akron’s Ward 8. In addition to chairing the Rules & Public Services Committees, Keith also serves on the Public Safety and Budget & Finance Committees.
Topics of discussion included the latest happenings in Ward 8. In particular, Councilwoman Keith is interested in hearing from Realtors about the Perkins School Development project. Other topics included businesses in The Valley, school impact on property values, and walkability.
Keith was happy to share characteristics about Ward 8 that make it unique and discuss the possibilities that are apparent to those who live in the Ward but possibly not so obvious to outsiders. Of the meeting, she said, “I have a better understanding of the resource that Akron Cleveland Realtors can be to a person in my position who represents a certain sector of the community.”
Councilwoman Keith welcomes area Realtors to her Ward 8 meetings, which are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at the Northwest Family Recreation Center, 1730 Shatto Ave., from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The ward meeting is preceded by a Block Watch meeting from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. The purpose is to organize block groups and address neighborhood concerns. A guest speaker usually presents at both meetings.
