Akron Cleveland Association of Realtors Names Mike Valerino as New Chief Executive Officer in 2022.

The Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS® (ACAR) has named Mike Valerino, CAE, RCE, AHWD to succeed Sandy Naragon, RCE, AHWD, C2eX as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ACAR as of April 1, 2022.

In early 2021, Naragon announced to the ACAR board of directors her intention to retire at the end of March 2022.  A CEO Search Committee was promptly formed and developed a search process in accordance with the ACAR Bylaws. Valerino, the current Chief Operating Officer (COO) for ACAR, quickly emerged as the strongest candidate.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of Mike’s caliber and experience ready to lead our association into the future,” said 2021 ACAR President Beth Rodgers. “The succession of Mike to the position of CEO comes at the perfect time as our association embarks on an exciting new strategic plan.  Mike is a strong advocate for REALTORS® with a proven track record of leadership and execution. We are confident his vision for the association will serve our members well.”

“I am honored to be chosen to lead ACAR and I believe that together with our volunteer leaders and professional staff, we can help our members’ businesses thrive,” said Valerino.  “Sandy and I have worked together at ACAR for the last nine years. She is well respected by the members, our industry partners, and community leaders, and I look forward to furthering those relationships as CEO.”  Valerino noted that throughout his nearly 20 years in the not-for-profit arena he has witnessed many changes in the industry and that he is “ready to work with everyone involved to ensure that Northeast Ohio is a #HomeForAll.”

Speaking on behalf of the board, Rodgers said, “We truly appreciate the efforts and service of Sandy Naragon and her contributions to ACAR for the last 39+ years. Sandy was first employed by the Akron Area Board of Realtors® (AABOR) and was then named CEO of ACAR after the merger with the Cleveland Area Board of Realtors® (CABOR). We look forward to following her adventures in retirement and we wish her great success going forward.”

The mission of the Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS® is to be the trusted voice and leading resource for real estate by focusing on Advocacy, Professionalism, and Connections on behalf of its 6,500 members in Cuyahoga, Summit and Portage Counties. #HomeForAll
