As real estate practitioners, we already know that racial, ethnic and cultural differences offer us a source of strength, community and identity. These are components that create vibrant communities. However, these same aspects of identity are also tied to stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination and oppression. This workshop will explore concepts relating to race and ethnicity, and discuss the impact that these socially constructed differences have in the housing industry and society as a whole. During the workshop sections of the film, Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequity will be used as a tool to help participants engage in meaningful dialogue. You will be given the opportunity to engage in small-group dialogue surrounding the topics brought up in the videos. At the conclusion of this workshop, all of us will have an increased understanding of the ways in which we can play an active role in ensuring that home buyers and sellers are able to overcome barriers to homeownership. Presented by Jeff Modelzewski with the Diversity Center; 1 hour C.E. Approved
