Community Watchdog Program

The Community Watchdog program was created by the Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS® to ensure that new legislation does not negatively affect the real estate industry or private property owner’s rights.

These volunteers are the watchdogs for the real estate industry, and help keep the Legislative Committee informed of “hot issues.” The role of the watchdog is an informative only and not one of advocacy.

Watchdogs are asked to submit an email reporting any real estate activity or meeting agendas/minutes to the ACAR staff. It is as simple as that!

The Legislative Committee and staff monitor activity in more than 100 communities in Cuyahoga, Portage, and Summit Counties. We do an extremely effective job, but we need your help to keep up this high level of success. ACAR is trying to build relationships with communities and this program enables us to get our “foot in the door” early in the legislative process.
